About HTX Work Injury

HTX Work Injury is an independent legal resource serving Houston’s industrial workforce. We are not a law firm—we are a research and education platform that connects injured workers with licensed Texas personal injury attorneys who have experience handling industrial injury cases.

Our content is developed using publicly available legal sources including Texas statutes, OSHA inspection records, and Bureau of Labor Statistics workplace injury data. All content is reviewed by licensed Texas personal injury attorneys with experience in industrial injury cases before publication.

We update our content quarterly to reflect changes in Texas law, OSHA regulations, and settlement trends. Our mission is to help Houston’s 80,000+ industrial workers understand their legal rights after a workplace injury—clearly, accurately, and without legal jargon.

Our Editorial Process

  • All legal information is sourced from primary authorities: the Texas Labor Code, Texas Civil Practice & Remedies Code, OSHA regulations, and BLS injury data.
  • Settlement estimates in our calculator are based on publicly reported Texas verdict and settlement data, adjusted for Harris County and the Greater Houston area.
  • Content is reviewed for legal accuracy by licensed Texas personal injury attorneys before publication.
  • We clearly label all estimates as educational—not legal advice. See the disclaimers section below.

Data Sources

The settlement estimates and claim value ranges presented on HTX Work Injury are derived from the following publicly available sources:

  • Texas verdict and settlement databases — Published jury verdicts and reported settlements from Texas state and federal courts, including Harris County District Court records.
  • OSHA inspection and citation data — Workplace safety violation records from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, searchable at osha.gov.
  • Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) — Workplace injury and fatality data from the BLS Injuries, Illnesses, and Fatalities program, including the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries and the Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses.
  • Texas statutes and case law — The Texas Labor Code (Chapter 406 for workers compensation) and Texas Civil Practice & Remedies Code for personal injury and product liability frameworks.
  • Texas Department of Insurance — Workers compensation coverage data, including non-subscriber statistics and employer coverage verification records.

How the Calculator Works

Our settlement calculator uses your inputs—injury type, severity, lost wages, and claim characteristics—to produce an estimated value range. The model applies multipliers derived from published Texas verdict data for comparable case types. Variables that increase estimated value include third-party involvement, OSHA violations, non-subscriber employer status, and permanent disability.

The quiz evaluates your eligibility for a third-party claim by walking through the same decision tree a Houston work injury attorney would use during an initial case evaluation: employer coverage status, third-party involvement, workers comp vs. personal injury considerations, equipment defects, and subcontractor negligence.

Important Disclaimers

HTX Work Injury is not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice, and no attorney-client relationship is formed through the use of this website. The information on this site is for educational and informational purposes only.

Settlement estimates are examples only. Every workplace injury case is unique. The calculator produces rough estimates based on aggregate data and should not be interpreted as a guarantee or prediction of the value of any specific claim. Actual outcomes depend on the facts of each case, the quality of evidence, jurisdiction, and many other factors.

Always consult a licensed attorney. If you have been injured at work in Houston or elsewhere in Texas, we strongly recommend consulting with a licensed Texas personal injury attorney who can evaluate the specific facts of your case. Most offer free, confidential consultations.
